If you are caffeine sensitive, please note that Matcha tea caffeine levels are approximately the same as a cup of coffee (34mg approximately), and half that of a cup of espresso.

However, the ‘buzz’ you feel after drinking Matcha is much more energising and longer lasting due to the amino acid L-Theanine. This reduces the release of caffeine and tends to have a relaxing and more calming effect.

As alluded to above, previously, it has also been known to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol, boost energy and the immune system, enhance concentration, boost metabolism and assist with weight loss as a result.

Matcha Review

Organic Jade Matcha Powder

So now you get a sense of the benefits of drinking Matcha on a regular basis. I’ll now delve into my favourite one, as I have tried a multitude of them over the years and this has been my favourite so far.

I first started looking on Amazon and a few other places to try find the best I could.

I probably tried over a dozen in total, but I’ve kept coming back to this one as it has been the most consistent (for me at least). Here’s what people are saying about it.

Jade Leaf’s Match is grown in Uji in Japan, and after I researched I learned this is the farthest place from the likes of fukushima. Initially, I had some concerns that the fall out from the nuclear disaster may have tainted the quality.

Official reports show there is not a single trace of radiation in the area, and more importantly in the tea itself.

Due to the level of care the Japanese growers take, they are also aware of trace metals showing up in their tea’s, and take great measures to prevent contamination.

Of course these were major factors in my initial buying decision, and after researching the tea’s, this one proved to be the winner on all of the above factors.

Price wasn’t a huge concern as I would rather pay more for quality, than buy a cheaper grade product (it works out to be approximately $0.50 per gram, and is only $0.33 when you buy a lbs of it).

The matcha arrived 4-5 days within my order placement, in a tin that had a pull-tab keeping the bagged matcha within the container tightly sealed to preserve its freshness. After I’d unscrewed the lid, peeled off the pull-tab, and opened the bag containing the matcha, I was hit with a surprisingly sweet and subtly grassy/vege smell, and the sight of a fairly vividly green matcha.

Having been using this product almost daily for quite some time, I’ve had increased energy and focus. I will continue to use it as the health benefits are immense.

I highly recommend anyone looking to gain the health benefits of Matcha green tea, checks this out!
